Coinbase Advocates for Inclusion of Digital Assets in U.S. 'Trump Account' Investment Options

Emilie Choi, President and Chief Operating Officer of Coinbase, has expressed strong support for the proposed 'Trump Account' initiative in the United States. This plan aims to expand investment options for beneficiaries, allowing them to include a variety of digital assets in their portfolios.

Faryar Shirzad, Chief Policy Officer of Coinbase, revealed that the company has provided feedback to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regarding the account's implementation and potential expansion. Coinbase suggests that beneficiaries should be permitted to invest in a broader range of traded digital assets or access these assets through funds, thereby aligning the investment scope with that of traditional Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs).

Coinbase argues that adopting more inclusive and product-neutral regulations will enhance investment choices, foster competition, and create additional opportunities for young Americans to diversify their investments and build wealth. Currently, the IRS's proposed qualified investments for the 'Trump Account' are primarily limited to tracking broad stock indices of U.S. companies and unleveraged mutual funds or exchange-traded funds (ETFs) with low annual fees.
