Aptos Introduces APT Staking on Bithumb Amid Promotional Campaign
Bithumb, one of South Korea's largest cryptocurrency exchanges, has launched staking for Aptos (APT) tokens, accompanied by a promotional campaign. This addition allows users to stake APT on the exchange, which is particularly beneficial for retail investors who may not meet the high minimum requirements for direct participation in the Aptos network's Proof-of-Stake mechanism.
The Aptos blockchain offers an annual reward rate of approximately 2.6%, a figure that has been adjusted following a recent protocol update known as AIP-140, which was approved on September 14, 2026. This update also established a hard supply cap of 2.1 billion APT tokens, changing the dynamics of staking and supply for the cryptocurrency.
Bithumb's staking service simplifies the process for users, allowing them to stake through the exchange interface without needing to manage the underlying infrastructure. Previously, Bithumb enabled native USDT deposits and withdrawals on the Aptos network, enhancing the utility of Aptos-based assets on its platform. The introduction of staking provides APT holders with an opportunity to earn yield on their holdings, comparable to high-yield savings accounts.
