BitGo Launches Brazilian Subsidiary Amid Growing Tokenization in Capital Markets

BitGo, a leading institutional digital asset custodian, has officially launched its Brazilian subsidiary, BitGo Brasil Tecnologia Ltda., on July 25, 2025. This strategic move positions BitGo within Brazil's regulatory framework as the country enhances regulations for virtual asset service providers, including new requirements for the local management of cryptographic keys.

Brazil is rapidly emerging as a significant player in the global tokenization landscape, with $835 million in tokenized assets recorded by September 2026. This includes 386 series, 60 asset pools, and 378 unique smart contracts, covering a variety of structured credit instruments and real-world assets. The Comissão de Valores Mobiliários (CVM), Brazil's securities regulator, has established a Tokenization Working Group to create an experimental framework for tokenized securities, collaborating with key market organizations such as ANBIMA and ABCripto.

BitGo aims to be a compliant partner for Brazilian banks and brokerages as they adapt to the evolving regulatory environment. The firm’s focus is on providing institutional-grade custody solutions, which are essential for financial institutions looking to issue tokenized products. Additionally, Brazil's main exchange, B3, is developing its own tokenization platform and stablecoin product, with plans for a late 2026 launch, further indicating the country's commitment to advancing its capital markets through tokenization.
