CZ: A Single Tweet Could Not Have Caused FTX to Collapse On September 25, 2026, Binance founder CZ cz_binance said in an interview with When Shift Happens KevinWSHPod that a single tweet could not directly cause a well-run company to collapse, and that FTX’s problems stemmed from its own liquidity shortfall and the misuse of customer funds. He said that at the time, he had only publicly disclosed Binance’s plan to gradually sell its remaining FTT holdings and did not expect the announcement to have such a significant impact. CoinDesk had already reported earlier that FTX might be insolvent.
