Cboe and S&P Dow Jones Indices Extend Licensing Agreement and Explore Tokenized Options

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (Cboe) and S&P Dow Jones Indices have announced a 25-year extension of their exclusive licensing agreement, ensuring their partnership will continue until 2051. This agreement allows Cboe to maintain exclusive trading rights for its flagship S&P 500 Index (SPX) options, solidifying its position in the options trading market.

In addition to the continuation of traditional index derivatives, the two organizations plan to explore innovative financial products, including the development of tokenized options contracts. This move reflects a growing interest in integrating blockchain technology into financial markets, potentially transforming how options are traded and settled.
