ONDO Finance Launches BlackRock-Backed Tokenized Portfolios Amid Rising Treasury Yields

ONDO Finance has introduced three new onchain portfolio tokens designed using strategies from BlackRock, coinciding with a significant rise in U.S. Treasury yields. The launch comes as the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield reached approximately 5.14%, the highest level in 19 years, while the 30-year yield also surged to levels not seen since 2004. Despite the challenging environment for risk assets, ONDO's token rallied by 18-22% within 24 hours of the announcement, with trading volume exceeding $600 million.

The newly launched product, named Ondo Intelligent Portfolios, includes three distinct tokenized strategies: BLKHIon for high income, BLKDIGon for diversified growth, and BLKGRWon for high growth. Each token represents a weighted basket of tokenized assets, allowing investors to mint, redeem, and transfer tokens seamlessly across various platforms without the need for traditional brokerage services. These portfolios are available to eligible non-U.S. investors in permitted jurisdictions, allowing ONDO to navigate U.S. regulatory complexities while leveraging BlackRock's expertise in portfolio design.

The market responded positively to the launch, with the ONDO token's price rising to around $0.50, resulting in a market capitalization of approximately $2.4 billion. This surge positions ONDO as the top-performing altcoin of the day, contrasting with the broader market trend where many speculative assets struggled amid rising yields. BlackRock's involvement in providing model portfolio strategies signals a growing interest in tokenization within traditional finance, as the firm manages over $10 trillion in assets and seeks to explore innovative financial products.
