Doha Bank named title sponsor of Qatar Ladies Open
The Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel and Badminton Federation has announced a new partnership with Doha Bank Group, under which the Bank will become the title sponsor of the Qatar Ladies Open (WTA 1000) beginning in 2027.
The partnership aligns with the Federation's commitment to expanding cooperation with leading national institutions, supporting efforts to develop the tournament and strengthen its status as one of the premier tennis events hosted by the State of Qatar.
Speaking at a press conference today, HE President of the Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel and Badminton Federation Nasser bin Ghanim Al Khelaifi underscored the importance of the new partnership with Doha Bank, saying it represents a significant addition to the tournament and reflects confidence in its standing as a prestigious event on the global Women's Tennis Association (WTA) calendar.
He added that the agreement reflects Doha Bank Group's active community role through its support for sports and a range of events in Qatar.
Al Khelaifi expressed confidence that the collaboration would contribute to the tournament's continued success and showcase Qatar's prominent position as a host and organizer of major sporting events.
For his part, HE Doha Bank Group CEO Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Fahad bin Faisal Al-Thani expressed his pride in strengthening their partnership with the Qatar Tennis Federation through Doha Bank Group's sponsorship of the Qatar Ladies Open tournament, one of the most prominent events on the global tennis calendar.
He added that the partnership reinforces the Bank's commitment to supporting Qatar's sports sector and helping consolidate the country's status as a global destination for major sporting championships and events, in line with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
The Doha Bank Group CEO added that the Bank is proud to have the prestigious tournament bear its name, reflecting its ambition to build high-quality, sustainable partnerships and support Qatar's growing presence on the international sports stage.
The Qatar Ladies Open tennis tournament is the longest-running event of its kind in the region. Its inaugural edition was held in 2001, when Swiss star Martina Hingis claimed the first title. Czech player Karolina Muchova won the 2026 edition after defeating Canada's Victoria Mboko in the final, securing the Golden Falcon trophy and her first WTA 1000-level title.
The 2027 edition of the Qatar Ladies Open tournament is scheduled to take place from February 8 to 14.
