Wall Street Adjusts Expectations Following Fed's September Meeting

Following the Federal Reserve's hawkish stance during its September meeting, several major banks are revising their predictions regarding future interest rate hikes. Institutions such as Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, NatWest, Rabobank, Swedbank, and Commerzbank are now considering the possibility of an additional rate hike or reducing their expectations for rate cuts.

The median forecast among analysts still anticipates one more 25 basis point increase, although opinions are divided on whether this will occur in October or December. In contrast, banks like Citi, ING, and SEB assert that the hike in September was the final one for the foreseeable future. This divergence in forecasts reflects the uncertainty surrounding the Fed's monetary policy as it navigates economic conditions.
