TSMC Earnings Report to Gauge AI Boom Amid US Inflation Concerns

The third quarter earnings season on Wall Street is set to commence this week, with major banks beginning to release their quarterly results. Amid this backdrop, the ongoing AI boom remains a focal point for investors, particularly with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) scheduled to report its earnings on October 15, 2026. TSMC, a leading global chip manufacturer, plays a vital role in the AI supply chain, producing chips essential for AI applications designed by companies like Nvidia.

Analysts anticipate TSMC will report earnings per share of approximately $4.42 for its US-listed shares, with net profit expected to rise by about 65% to NT$746.3 billion. The company has already posted impressive results, with record revenue of NT$1.49 trillion ($46.7 billion), marking a 50% increase from the previous year and surpassing market expectations. However, with high expectations set, investors may seek more than just another record-breaking quarter to maintain their confidence.

In addition to TSMC's performance, the broader market dynamics will also play a crucial role this week. The US Consumer Price Index (CPI) report, due for release on Wednesday, is anticipated to be a significant risk factor for markets. Elevated Treasury yields and potential inflation concerns could exert additional pressure on technology stocks, regardless of TSMC's results. An optimistic outlook from TSMC could provide some reassurance regarding the sustainability of the AI boom, but the overall market sentiment will likely influence investor appetite for AI-related stocks.
