Binance Invests $100 Million in Circle Internet Group

Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has made a significant investment of $100 million in Circle Internet Group, a stablecoin issuer that is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker CRCL. This investment was disclosed in a regulatory filing, which revealed that Binance acquired 1,237,011 shares of Circle's Class A common stock at a price of $80.84 per share, approximately 5% below the market rate at the time of the transaction. The agreement, which commenced on September 17, includes a five-year commitment for Binance to promote Circle's USDC stablecoin.

As part of the commercial agreement, Circle will compensate Binance with a monthly fee based on USDC balances in exchange for promoting the stablecoin on its platform. This is not the first collaboration between the two companies, as they have engaged in similar arrangements since 2024. The new deal also stipulates that Binance cannot sell, pledge, or hedge its shares in Circle for two years or until certain conditions are met regarding the commercial agreement.

Following the announcement of the investment, Circle's stock experienced a 2% increase. However, it is worth noting that CRCL stock has seen an 11% decline since the company went public in June 2025. Richard Teng, CEO of Binance, expressed confidence in the investment, stating that it reflects a long-term commitment to the partnership. Binance remains a privately held entity, and its shares are not available on public exchanges.
