Robinhood Introduces AI Trading Agents and New Trading Features
Robinhood, a U.S.-based brokerage firm, has announced several new features at the HOOD Summit in Houston, Texas, including the launch of executable trading AI agents, cryptocurrency perpetual contracts, and weekend trading for U.S. stocks. The new AI agents will allow customers to create personalized trading bots within the app, utilizing models from OpenAI or Anthropic to analyze market conditions and execute trades on stocks, options, and cryptocurrencies.
The AI agents, known as Robinhood Agents, can create watchlists and monitor market activity based on long-term instructions provided by users. Since the introduction of external AI agents earlier this year, over 150,000 accounts have been created. Each trade proposed by the AI requires customer approval, and users have the option to disable this feature. The agents will not be able to use margin and will operate only with funds in dedicated accounts.
In addition to AI trading, Robinhood will offer cryptocurrency perpetual contracts with leverage options of up to 10x for Bitcoin and Ethereum, while other assets will start at 3x leverage. These contracts will be available to eligible U.S. customers through Robinhood Derivatives and Bitstamp. Furthermore, the company plans to introduce earnings binary contracts through Cboe, enabling customers to trade based on corporate performance metrics. Weekend trading will also be available for select stocks and ETFs through Bruce ATS.
