Robinhood Introduces 10x Leveraged Crypto Trading for US Users
Robinhood Markets has launched a new feature allowing select US users to engage in crypto perpetual futures trading with leverage of up to 10x on Bitcoin and Ethereum. This service, which began on September 29, 2026, utilizes the company's Derivatives platform and the infrastructure acquired from Bitstamp, a global crypto exchange, in a deal finalized in June 2025 for approximately $200 million.
The new offering includes eight perpetual contracts on major cryptocurrencies, with Bitcoin and Ethereum available at the full 10x leverage. Other tokens such as Solana, XRP, Dogecoin, Cardano, Chainlink, and HYPE will have a lower leverage cap of 3x. To attract users, Robinhood is temporarily reducing trading fees to just 0.01%, a competitive rate aimed at drawing volume from other exchanges during the initial rollout.
Robinhood's entry into leveraged crypto trading follows its earlier international launch of similar products in the European Union in April 2026. The company is positioning itself as a full-service trading platform, expanding beyond its origins as a simplified stock trading app. However, the introduction of leveraged trading carries significant risks, particularly for inexperienced investors, as a 10% adverse market move could result in complete liquidation of a position.
