Bitcoin Faces Nine Dates That Could Shake October

October's crypto calendar carries at least nine scheduled events with the potential to move Bitcoin and the broader digital-asset market, starting with today's September jobs report and running through the Federal Reserve's rate decision on 28 October. Bitfinex analysts identified 17 macro catalysts for the month, noting that sustained gains require spot demand while rising Treasury yields compete for capital.Bitcoin traded near $84,300 at the start of the month after Citi raised its price target to $113,000 on 1 October, citing a reversal in exchange-traded fund flows. Here is what the calendar holds, date by date, with the primary source for each event.

Macro: Jobs Today, the Fed on 28 October

The Bureau of Labor Statistics releases the September nonfarm payrolls report at 8:30 a.m. ET on 2nd October. The number sets the tone for the month because it feeds directly into the Federal Reserve's growth and inflation assessment. A hotter-than-expected print could reinforce expectations for another rate hike, pressuring risk assets including crypto. The Federal Open Market Committee announces its rate decision at 2:00 p.m. ET on 28 October, followed by Chair Kevin Warsh's press conference at 2:30 p.m.The current target range sits at 3.75% to 4.00% after a 25bp hike at the September meeting, the first increase since 2023. This meeting does not include updated economic projections, but the statement's language on the inflation path will signal whether the Fed is inclined to hike again in December or hold.Between those two anchors, the Bitfinex list flags the 14 October Consumer Price Index (CPI) print as the single most significant data point of the month, alongside the Producer Price Index (PPI) and advance retail sales on 15 October, and the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) inflation gauge and advance third-quarter Gross Domestic Product (GDP) estimate on 29 October.

Listings and Launches: XRPN and CME Futures

The merger between Armada Acquisition Corp. II and Evernorth Holdings, an actively managed XRP treasury vehicle holding approximately 473.3 million XRP valued at roughly $710 million at current prices, is expected to close on 7 October.Trading on Nasdaq under the ticker XRPN is scheduled to begin on 8 October, subject to closing conditions. Evernorth's shareholders approved the deal in a vote on 30 September, with results announced on 1 October, and backers include Ripple, Pantera Capital, and Kraken.CME Group launches Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap futures, pending regulatory review. Standard contract sizes are 250 BCH and 10,000 UNI, respectively, with micro versions at one-tenth on 19 October. CME's crypto futures and options complex averaged 279,800 contracts a day in the first half of 2026, representing roughly $8.3 billion in daily notional value.

      The XRP Ledger Batch Amendment

The XRP Ledger's BatchV1_1 amendment, which bundles up to eight transactions into a single atomic operation, could activate around 9 October if validator support holds above the required 80% threshold. The amendment originally targeted 29 September but slipped after support briefly dropped below the threshold, resetting the 14-day countdown. The feature enables delivery-versus-payment and bundled settlement use cases on the ledger.

      Hyperliquid on 7 October

The Hyper Foundation's monthly token distribution for HYPE is expected on 7 October, following the pattern of announcements near the sixth of each month. The September cliff unlock had a ceiling of $824 million, representing 4.46% of circulating supply, though actual claim rates have historically stayed below 1% of the scheduled amount. A weekly buyback programme of approximately $14.7 million partially offsets supply pressure from the unlocks.

      Three Deadlines in Twelve Days

19 October: Comments close on the Department of the Treasury's proposed regulations implementing Section 3 of the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for United States Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act, covering who may issue payment stablecoins domestically and restrictions on foreign-issued tokens. The rule was published in the Federal Register on 18 August as document 2026-16796, and the comment window closes on 19 October, not 17 October as some widely shared week-ahead summaries have stated.20 October: One day later, comments close on the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) proposed Regulation Crypto Assets (Federal Register document 2026-17183, file number S7-2026-27), which would establish a startup exemption for raises to $5 million over four years, a fundraising exemption up to $75 million per 12-month period, and a conditional safe harbour from investment-contract classification. The SEC posed 154 questions for public input.A third SEC proposal, on crypto custody for investment advisers and funds, was announced on 1 October but carries a 60-day comment period that runs from Federal Register publication. That publication has not occurred yet, so the comment deadline remains unconfirmed.30 October: In Brazil, all Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) must file for authorisation with the Banco Central do Brasil by this date under Instrução Normativa 739 and Law 14,478/2022. The requirements include a minimum capital of R10.8 million, an R37.2 million independent audit verification, and a physical office.  Approximately 120 providers currently serve the Brazilian market, most without formal licences, in a jurisdiction that processed $318.8 billion in on-chain value over the 12 months through June 2025.

The Most Crowded Part of October’s Crypto Calendar is Yet to Come

The calendar's density peaks between 14 October, when CPI lands, and 30 October, when the Brazilian licensing deadline arrives. Five of the nine dated events fall in those 16 days, creating a window in which regulatory, monetary, and network catalysts overlap. Traders waiting for clarity on any single catalyst may find that clarity arrives alongside three others.
