Bitget exchange turns eight years old

      • Gracy Chen summed up Bitget’s eighth year of operations and spoke about the evolution of the Universal Exchange concept.
      • Over the past year, the exchange launched a range of multi-asset trading products, including rToken, UTA, Bitget Onchain, and GetClaw.
      • At its peak, the share of non-crypto assets reached 40% of Bitget’s total trading volume.

The cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has turned eight. To mark the occasion, CEO Gracy Chen summed up the past year and spoke about the platform’s development toward the Universal Exchange (UEX) direction.

According to her, over the past 12 months Bitget has focused on building a unified infrastructure for trading different asset classes. This includes cryptocurrencies, U.S. stocks, commodities, and currencies within a single user experience.

The company noted that UEX was a response to market fragmentation, where users often have to deal with different accounts, platforms, and restrictions. Bitget’s model provides access to global assets through a single account and a shared liquidity infrastructure.

In the year since UEX was unveiled, the exchange says it has delivered several industry initiatives. Bitget stated that it became the first major exchange to launch perpetual contracts on stocks, onchain token trading from a spot account via Bitget Onchain, subscriptions and secondary trading for tokenized Pre-IPO offerings, as well as a unified multi-asset account that supports tokenized U.S. stocks as margin collateral.

In addition, the company highlighted the launch of options on U.S. stocks, Quanto contracts on Hong Kong stocks, and GetClaw — an autonomous AI agent for trading without installation.

Bitget reported that at its peak, the share of non-crypto assets reached 40% of the platform’s total trading volume. Daily trading volume in perpetual contracts and CFDs on traditional financial assets in certain segments exceeded $10 billion. This applied to stocks, gold, oil, and currencies.

According to the company, rToken recorded more than 3 million cumulative transactions, and one in four new Bitget users starts with this product. The rToken lineup supports more than 1,000 assets, TradFi contracts cover more than 300 instruments, and CFDs cover nearly 100 pairs.

In 2026, Bitget also received an Online Trading Expo award as the best global multi-asset trading platform. The company said this marked Bitget’s first major industry recognition in the traditional finance space.

The exchange also placed special emphasis on its institutional business. As of Q2 2026, institutional clients’ net assets rose by 45% compared with Q3 2025. The number of key active market makers increased from 90 to 248 firms — up 176%.

In the next phase, Bitget plans to expand its API infrastructure, prime brokerage, quantitative trading, VIP service, and institutional products. Among its priorities, the company also cited scaling the rToken ecosystem, including dividends, recurring investments, and lending, as well as further integration of the UTA multi-asset account.

“The era of multi-asset trading is only just beginning,” Chen said.
