Maple Finance's SYRUP Token Drops 24% Despite Rising Revenue and Assets
Maple Finance's governance token, SYRUP, experienced a significant decline of approximately 24% over the week ending October 19, 2026, trading between $0.187 and $0.19. This downturn is notable given that the underlying business metrics, including revenue and assets under management, have shown positive growth during the same period.
In September, Maple reported revenue of $1.57 million, an increase from $1.47 million in August. The company's assets under management rose to between $4.7 billion and $4.8 billion in the third quarter of 2026, marking an 18% year-over-year increase. Additionally, outstanding loans reached $1.67 billion, up 12% from the previous year. Despite these encouraging figures, SYRUP lagged behind major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ether.
The recent buyback program, governed by proposal MIP-021, allocated a portion of revenue towards repurchasing SYRUP tokens. In October, Maple executed a buyback of $314,116, acquiring 1.37 million tokens at an average price of approximately $0.229. However, with the current price near $0.19, this purchase is now at a loss.
Several factors contribute to the disconnect between Maple's strong performance metrics and the falling price of SYRUP. A general weakness in the altcoin market, thin liquidity, and technical breakdowns below key moving averages have all played a role in the token's decline. SYRUP's market capitalization is estimated to be between $220 million and $314 million, with a circulating supply of roughly 1.2 billion tokens.
