10-Year Treasury Yields Decline Amid Mixed Inflation Data

10-year Treasury yields in the United States have decreased to 5.09%, marking a potential back-to-back weekly decline for the first time since June 2026. This decline comes despite recent inflation data from the U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Producer Price Index (PPI) reports, which indicated higher-than-expected inflation. The yields have struggled to maintain a break above the 5.30% level following the inflation reports, leading to a cautious sentiment in the broader market.

The focus now shifts to the 5.00% threshold, which has previously acted as a barrier against rising yields. Analysts suggest that a firm daily close below this level could signal a significant shift in momentum, potentially leading yields towards the 4.70% mark, where the 100-day moving average is situated. Further declines could see yields approaching the 200-day moving average around 4.50%.

Despite the recent pullback, the underlying factors contributing to higher yields remain unchanged. Ongoing inflation pressures, heavy Treasury issuance, and concerns regarding the long-term trajectory of U.S. debt continue to drive investor demand for higher compensation on longer-dated government bonds. As such, the 5.00% level is viewed as a critical point for future yield movements.
