Amazon Rolls Out AI Agents That Interview Job Applicants 24/7

Amazon Connect Talent, an agentic artificial intelligence solution for hiring, is now generally available, Amazon Web Services (AWS) said in a Thursday (Sept. 17) update to an article originally published in April.

Amazon Connect Talent is designed to help enterprises accelerate the entire process of high-volume hiring, from job description to hiring decision, and complete the process in days rather than weeks. It uses AI agents to analyze the role requirements, generate an interview plan, invite candidates to interview on their own schedule, 24/7, conduct voice interviews and deliver a prepared brief to the recruiter, according to the article.

“AI agents evaluate candidates with job-related assessments and surface qualified candidates faster than traditional processes,” Colleen Aubrey, senior vice president at AWS, said in the article. “Recruiters review AI-generated scores with full transcripts and notes. The agent surfaces its reasoning, and the recruiter makes the call.”

“This enables recruiters to focus on relationships, not administrative work,” Aubrey said. “The result is faster hiring, better matches and a candidate experience that respects people’s time.”

AWS announced in April that it was expanding its Amazon Connect service into specialized agentic AI solutions.

These solutions include Amazon Connect Talent along with Amazon Connect Decisions, which manages supply logistics and forecasting; Amazon Connect Customer, previously known simply as Amazon Connect, which enables organizations to set up conversational AI; and Amazon Connect Health, which automates administrative tasks for healthcare providers.

When announcing these specialized solutions, AWS said that they “draw on our expertise incorporating agents throughout Amazon’s operations,” noting the breadth of the company’s experience in supply chain, hiring, custom interactions and its health and pharmacy business.

“We’ve built AI systems not just to think about these challenges but to solve them in the real world, at scale, every single day,” AWS said in the April announcement.

During a July 30 earnings call, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said Amazon sees “a very substantial opportunity” in building agentic applications for customers and AWS.

Jassy said that the company’s agentic AI-powered contact center platform is used by major airlines, banks and healthcare companies and continues to grow quickly.
