- The CFO delivered her remarks at the Citi Global TMT Conference, emphasizing artificial intelligence as the primary catalyst for future expansion.
- Analysts anticipate AMD’s data center business will approximately double by 2027, reaching roughly $70 billion in revenue.

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., AMD
The rally followed a presentation by CFO Jean Hu at the Citi Global Technology, Media and Telecommunications Conference, where she unveiled an aggressive artificial intelligence expansion strategy.
According to Hu, AMD’s addressable market opportunity could expand to $2 trillion by the end of the decade, fueled predominantly by artificial intelligence demand. This projection significantly exceeded previous market expectations and triggered immediate investor interest.
“It’s really about AI and we do believe this is the most consequential technology transformation,” Hu said at the conference.
The CFO further elaborated that AMD’s data center division is anticipated to approximately double in size by 2027, hitting approximately $70 billion in revenue. Of that total, AI GPUs are forecast to contribute roughly $40 billion, with the remaining revenue generated by server CPUs.
Regarding the CPU segment, Hu noted that supply constraints have been easing and projected the CPU division will expand by more than 80% in the latter half of 2025 versus the same period last year. This momentum is expected to continue into the following year.
“This AI super investment cycle is at the very beginning, and over time, we’re going to continue to see strong demand for AMD’s product,” Hu said.
Wall Street Analysts Boost Expectations
Following the conference, CLSA promptly elevated its AMD price objective to $710 from $575 while maintaining its Outperform stance. The firm increased its fiscal 2027 and 2028 earnings per share forecasts by 25% to 29%, based on assumptions that AMD will deliver higher volumes of MI-455 GPUs at improved pricing compared to earlier models.
The overall analyst sentiment remains positive. Currently, Wall Street analysts have issued 41 buy recommendations for AMD with zero sell ratings on record.
The options market reflected bullish sentiment as well, with notable call buying activity observed in AMD’s weekly option contracts generating substantial profits.
Semiconductor Rally Amid Market Weakness
The strength in AMD shares stands out against a challenging market environment. During Tuesday’s session, the S&P 500 declined 0.4%, the Nasdaq slipped 0.1%, and the Dow Jones fell 0.8%.
Other semiconductor companies also posted gains. Arm Holdings advanced 5.8% while Intel surged 10% on Tuesday. Micron and Nvidia also traded higher on Wednesday, indicating broader investor appetite for chip manufacturers with established AI revenue streams.
AMD reached an intraday peak of $524.29 on Wednesday, climbing from the previous closing price of $505.74. The shares continue trading below the 52-week high of $584.73.
