Cardano (ADA) Climbs 29% Following T.Rowe Price ETF Addition — Price Outlook
Key Takeaways
- ADA climbed 29% over the past week, boosted in part by T.Rowe Price allocating 0.43% of its Active Crypto ETF to Cardano
- The token is currently hovering between $0.220 and $0.223, with key resistance positioned at the 200-day EMA near $0.249
- Large holders have offloaded roughly 100 million tokens since the weekend, pointing to profit realization
- Decentralized exchange activity on Cardano surged from $4.15 million to $16.1 million within a two-day window
- Derivatives positioning shows a long-to-short ratio of 0.72, indicating traders are leaning bearish in the near term
Cardano (ADA) is holding steady near $0.220 this Monday following a robust 29% climb over the previous week. The upward move was fueled by improved market conditions and the announcement that T.Rowe Price has incorporated ADA into its Active Crypto ETF.

T.Rowe Price manages approximately $1.87 trillion in assets. The investment giant introduced its Active Crypto ETF (TKNZ) in July 2026, initially focusing on Bitcoin and select altcoins while excluding Cardano. A recent update now shows ADA among the fund’s holdings with a 0.43% allocation. The ETF currently owns 416,620 ADA tokens, representing roughly $81,000 in value.
This development arrived approximately two weeks following Grayscale’s decision to pull its Cardano ETF application on August 10. That withdrawal had briefly sent ADA sliding toward $0.196. The T.Rowe news provided the catalyst needed to reverse the downward trajectory.
Broader cryptocurrency market dynamics also played a role in ADA’s weekly performance. Digital assets rallied after the U.S. Treasury announced plans to double its debt buyback program, creating positive momentum across the space.
Large Holders Begin Taking Profits
Following three consecutive days of upward movement, some market participants are now locking in gains. Santiment tracking data reveals that whale addresses containing between 1 million and 100 million ADA have collectively reduced holdings by approximately 100 million tokens since Saturday. This type of distribution from major holders typically suggests potential consolidation ahead.

Futures market data reinforces this cautious outlook. According to CoinGlass, Cardano’s long-to-short ratio stands at 0.72 on Monday, marking one of its lowest readings in more than a month. When this metric falls below 1, it indicates more market participants are positioning for downside movement.
Technical analyst Sssebi observed on X that following ADA’s breakout from an ascending channel pattern, the token has returned to retest the broken resistance level—a development he characterized as “usually a very bullish signal.”
Network Metrics Show Strength
While short-term positioning appears cautious, fundamental network data paints a more optimistic picture. Decentralized exchange volumes on Cardano climbed sharply from $4.15 million on August 20 to $16.1 million by August 22, per DeFiLlama. Meanwhile, DeFi total value locked expanded from $54 million to $60 million during the same timeframe.
Stablecoin holdings on Cardano increased from $65 million on August 8 to $67 million currently, reflecting expanding on-chain utilization.
From a technical perspective, ADA maintains support above both its 50-day and 100-day EMAs positioned at $0.187 and $0.196 respectively. The next major hurdle lies at the 200-day EMA around $0.249. Successfully clearing that level could pave the way toward $0.29, aligned with the 161.8% Fibonacci extension target.
The Relative Strength Index currently reads 72, confirming strong bullish momentum while simultaneously suggesting potential exhaustion among buyers may be approaching.
At the time of writing, ADA is changing hands at $0.223, representing a 5.6% increase on the day.
