Eli Lilly's New Obesity Drug Shows Promising Weight Loss Results

Eli Lilly and Company has reported that its experimental drug eloralintide, when used in combination with Zepbound, resulted in an average weight loss of 23.3% over approximately 11 months in patients with Type 2 diabetes. In comparison, patients receiving Zepbound alone experienced an average weight loss of 14.8%.

Despite the promising results, the study noted that between 11% and 27% of participants discontinued the combination treatment due to side effects, raising concerns about the drug's tolerability. Eli Lilly is planning to move forward with late-stage trials for this treatment later in 2026.
