Eurozone CPI Report Released Amidst Steady ECB Interest Rates

The final Eurozone Consumer Price Index (CPI) report has been released, although it is not expected to significantly impact the markets. Typically, the final data does not move markets as traders focus more on preliminary figures. The European Central Bank (ECB) is anticipated to maintain steady interest rates in its upcoming meeting, largely due to the absence of clear second-round effects and ongoing issues in the bond market. Market participants are looking ahead to a potential rate hike in December.

In the United States, the American session will feature several low-tier economic releases, including data on industrial production and import/export prices. The industrial production figures are closely linked to the ISM manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI), limiting their potential to provide new insights for traders. The import prices will serve as the final input for the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) calculation, but analysts do not expect these figures to alter market sentiment, especially after recent inflation reports were largely disregarded.

Current expectations for the Core PCE month-over-month increase are set at 0.34%, up from 0.25% last month, while the year-over-year measure is projected at 3.1%, compared to 3.0% previously. Following the Producer Price Index (PPI) release, the probability of an interest rate hike in October has decreased to approximately 12%. Notably, there has been a dovish repricing along the yield curve, accompanied by a significant decline in long-term Treasury yields, suggesting a shift in market focus towards growth concerns.
