France Faces Larger Diesel Shortage Than Official Counts Indicate

Recent reports indicate that the official count of fuel shortages in France may significantly underestimate the actual situation. The current methodology only registers a fuel station as short if it has completely run out of either petrol or diesel. Consequently, stations that have one type of fuel available while being out of another are not counted in the official statistics, leading to a misleading representation of the fuel supply situation.

As of now, the average price of diesel in France stands at €2.406 per litre, which translates to approximately $10.45 per gallon. This high price point, coupled with the limited availability of diesel fuel, suggests that the fuel crisis may be more severe than previously acknowledged by authorities. The implications of this shortage could affect transportation and logistics across the country, raising concerns among consumers and businesses alike.
