Goldman Sachs Predicts Continued Weakness in China's Oil Imports

Goldman Sachs has projected that China's crude oil imports are likely to remain subdued if oil prices continue to stay elevated. This forecast suggests limited prospects for a significant rebound in demand for oil from the world's largest importer.

Currently, Chinese seaborne oil imports are approximately 3 million barrels per day below normal seasonal levels. Goldman Sachs has indicated that a change of 1 million barrels per day in Chinese imports could influence the fair value of Brent crude oil by around $4. The investment bank also noted that disruptions in Middle Eastern oil supply pose a significant upside risk to prices.

The outlook reflects ongoing challenges in the global oil market, where elevated prices may deter increased consumption in China, impacting both domestic and international markets.
