Key FX Option Expiries Impacting EUR/USD and USD/JPY on September 23

On September 23, significant foreign exchange option expiries are set to influence trading, particularly for the EUR/USD and USD/JPY currency pairs. The expiries for EUR/USD are positioned at the 1.1400 and 1.1450 levels, with the current spot price situated less than 30 pips between these two points. The expiry at 1.1400 may provide a pull factor if the downward momentum in EUR/USD persists, as the U.S. dollar has shown strength in recent sessions amid elevated bond yields, despite a recent decline in oil prices.

The expiry near 1.1450 could limit any upward price movements, as it coincides with the 100-hour moving average at 1.1468, which may help maintain the recent downward trend. Traders are advised to monitor these levels closely, as they could dictate price action leading up to the expiry.

In addition to the EUR/USD expiries, there is also a notable expiry for USD/JPY at the 157.00 level. However, this level is currently some distance from the spot price, suggesting it may have less immediate impact unless external factors lead to a significant shift in the dollar's value. Today's market will also be influenced by the release of preliminary Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) data for France, Germany, and the Eurozone, which could serve as a catalyst for price movements.
