Starting on October 1, 2026, new no-surcharge rules for card payments will be implemented in Australia. This change aims to enhance transparency and fairness in payment processing for consumers and businesses alike.
In anticipation of these changes, AusPayNet, along with major payment networks Visa and Mastercard, has launched a dedicated website. This platform will provide essential information regarding what will change, what will remain the same, and guidance on how businesses and consumers can prepare for the new regulations.
The introduction of these rules is part of a broader effort to streamline payment practices in Australia, ensuring that consumers are not subjected to additional fees when using their cards for transactions. Stakeholders are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new guidelines as the implementation date approaches.
