Oman floats $7bn worth of tenders for private sector

Oman Investment Authority (OIA) has floated nearly 2,300 tenders valued at OMR2.6 billion ($6.8 billion) from the start of the year until September, a senior fund official said.

The tenders offer new investment opportunities for the private sector and small and medium enterprises (SMEs), the state-run Oman News Agency reported.

OIA is using data in decision-making, empowering startups, localising industries and improving digital readiness to achieve Vision 2040 goals, particularly economic diversification, Al Moatasim Said Al Sariri, director general of local content at OIA, said.

The fund’s spending on SMEs increased to OMR279 million in 2025 from OMR187 million in 2022, now accounting for almost 11 percent of total spend on supply chains.

Al Sariri said the Omanisation rate within OIA has reached 56 percent by the start of the year, with more than 1,400 jobs created for locals.

In May OIA said annual profit rose 86 percent to OMR2.9 billion in 2024. Assets under management rose 13 percent to OMR23 billion.
