Qatar and JPMorgan to launch $20bn investment partnership

Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) has signed an agreement with US-based JPMorgan Asset Management (JPMAM) to invest billions of dollars across public and private markets.

Under the partnership, JPMAM will manage a customised portfolio for QIA and invest $15 billion in public equities to meet the fund’s long-term investment objectives, the state-run Qatar News Agency reported.

A further $5 billion will be invested to support middle-market companies in the US, with a focus on industrials, services, healthcare and technology.

The partnership will generate long-term value through ongoing investment dialogue, joint programmes and the direct exchange of ideas, QIA chief executive officer Mohammed Saif Al Sowaidi said.

Founded in 2005, QIA has nearly $580 billion in assets under management, according to Global SWF, a data platform that tracks sovereign wealth funds.

Last month, the sovereign fund invested in the latest funding round of US-based Gatik, an autonomous trucking and delivery company.
