SpaceX (SPCX) Stock: Starship’s Historic Orbital Attempt Set for Monday Launch

      Key Highlights

      • Monday’s Flight 14 represents Starship’s inaugural attempt to achieve orbital trajectory, departing from SpaceX’s Starbase facility in Texas.
      • A 75-minute launch opportunity begins at 8:15 a.m. Eastern Time, featuring the deployment of 26 advanced Starlink V3 satellites.
      • SPCX shares remain beneath the June initial public offering high of $225.64, experiencing approximately 3% decline across recent trading days.
      • Financial analysts from Bernstein and Mizuho continue recommending the stock with price objectives reaching $248 and $200 respectively.
      • Consensus analyst projections point to a target of $232.07, suggesting significant appreciation potential from present valuation.

SpaceX stands on the verge of a milestone achievement. The aerospace manufacturer has scheduled an early Monday morning launch of its Starship vehicle, targeting orbital insertion for the first time in the program’s history.

Liftoff is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. Eastern from the company’s South Texas launch complex. The opportunity extends across a 75-minute timeframe.

Designated as the fourteenth Starship test mission, this flight marks a departure from previous attempts that remained suborbital.

Regulatory clearance arrived September 26 when the Federal Aviation Administration authorized both ascent and descent operations. Last Thursday, SpaceX conducted a comprehensive wet dress rehearsal, executing all pre-launch procedures short of engine ignition.

      Mission Objectives for Flight 14

The primary payload consists of 26 next-generation Starlink V3 communications satellites. Production takes place at SpaceX’s Washington state manufacturing center in Redmond.

These upgraded satellites deliver double the electrical output compared to predecessor models. Engineering improvements include expanded dimensions and enhanced bandwidth capabilities for end users.

Starlink represents SpaceX’s dominant revenue generator and sole profitable division. The constellation includes approximately 11,000 operational spacecraft, dwarfing Eutelsat OneWeb’s fleet of around 650 units.

Chief Executive Elon Musk stated in August that Starlink could ultimately handle the majority of global internet traffic across licensed territories. While ambitious, deployment metrics support the vision’s feasibility.

Beyond communications, Starship serves SpaceX’s extended strategic roadmap. NASA has contracted the vehicle for critical testing related to lunar surface operations scheduled for next year.

President and COO Gwynne Shotwell announced this month that SpaceX intends to begin orbiting specialized artificial intelligence computing platforms beginning in 2027.

      SPCX Trading Activity

SPCX debuted on public markets in June through history’s largest initial public offering, establishing a nearly $2 trillion enterprise valuation. Share price volatility has characterized trading since the listing.

Current pricing exceeds the $135 IPO level. However, shares trade substantially below the $225.64 peak recorded in June.

The most recent five-day period saw SPCX decline roughly 3%. Market participants cite uncertainty regarding infrastructure investments and valuation multiples.

Pre-market indications Monday showed shares declining 0.75% as launch preparations advanced.

Sell-side research remains constructive despite near-term weakness. Mizuho analyst Brett Linzey confirmed his Buy recommendation alongside a $200 target price.

Linzey highlighted a recently announced hosting agreement potentially generating approximately $1.11 billion monthly revenue at maximum utilization. The arrangement provides clearer insight into demand for SpaceX’s computational infrastructure.

Bernstein’s Douglas Harned similarly maintained his Buy stance with a $248 valuation. Harned emphasized that achieving Starship upper stage recovery represents a critical enabler for orbital data center operations.

His forecast anticipates successful second-stage reusability demonstration during fourth quarter 2026.

Aggregate Wall Street sentiment classifies SPCX as a Moderate Buy. This consensus reflects 26 Buy ratings, five Hold recommendations, and two Sell opinions among equity research coverage.

The mean price objective stands at $232.07. Achieving this level would represent approximately 56% upside from current market pricing.

Attention now shifts to the Texas Gulf Coast, where Flight 14 attempts to become Starship’s first successful orbital mission.
