Streamex Secures $1 Million Institutional Investment for Tokenized Gold Strategy

Streamex Corp., a technology company listed on Nasdaq, has successfully secured an initial institutional investment of over $1 million for its tokenized gold strategy, GLDY. This investment marks a significant step in testing the appeal of tokenized commodities to institutional buyers, beyond individual investors. The allocation is managed by Metalayer Capital, a systematic investment firm founded by former executives from Two Sigma, through its Aureon Relative Value Fund.

The investment strategy utilizes GLDY as the long position in a delta-neutral gold trade, which pairs it with a short position in gold-linked perpetual futures. This approach aims to generate yield from GLDY, which Streamex targets at 3.5% annually through a gold-leasing program. The initial commitment is seen as a potential precursor to further investments, indicating growing interest from the institutional sector in tokenized securities.

Henry McPhie, co-founder and CEO of Streamex, emphasized the importance of converting institutional allocations into GLDY, stating that this strategy represents a new growth channel for the company. The firm has made six consecutive monthly distributions on GLDY, with the latest occurring in September, and it continues to publish its gold reserves through a Chainlink proof-of-reserves feed.
