U.S. Core PCE Revisions Indicate Accelerated Disinflation

Recent revisions to the U.S. Core Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index have revealed a more pronounced trend of disinflation. The annual core PCE rate has been adjusted down to 3.0%, with the July figure revised from 3.34% to 2.98%. This adjustment indicates that inflationary pressures in the United States are easing more rapidly than previously understood.

The revisions also highlight a significant weakening in underlying inflation momentum. The three-month annualized rate now stands at 2.05%, while the six-month annualized rate is at 2.74%. These figures suggest that the cooling of inflation extends beyond the softer readings observed in August, indicating a broader trend of declining inflation rates in the U.S. economy.
