U.S. Envoy Rejects Global Governance of AI at UN Security Council Meeting

During a recent meeting of the United Nations Security Council, U.S. envoy Kratsios expressed strong opposition to any initiatives aimed at establishing a global framework for the regulation of artificial intelligence (AI). He stated that the United States does not see a need to slow down the rapid advancements in AI technology or to impose global governance structures on it.

Kratsios emphasized that attempting to govern technology that is not fully understood would be ineffective. His remarks come amid growing international discussions on the need for regulations to manage the implications of AI, highlighting a significant divide between the U.S. approach and those advocating for more stringent oversight.

The envoy's comments reflect the U.S. government's stance on innovation and technology, prioritizing rapid development over regulatory constraints, which could potentially hinder progress in the field.
