U.S. Home Prices Increase Slightly in September 2026

Home prices in the United States experienced a modest increase of 0.25% in September 2026, according to data from Redfin. This rise marks an annual growth rate of 3.8%, the highest level observed since June 2025. The data indicates that home prices are continuing to climb despite shifting market dynamics.

Among the 50 major metropolitan areas analyzed, 34 reported price increases, with Philadelphia leading the way at a notable rise of 1.9%. Conversely, Fort Worth, Texas, recorded the largest decline, with home prices dropping by 0.9%.

The current market conditions suggest that while buyers are gaining some negotiating power, sellers remain firm, contributing to the ongoing upward trend in home prices.
