U.S. Orders Iranian Delegation to Leave New York Amid Stalled Talks

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio ordered the Iranian delegation attending the United Nations General Assembly to leave New York immediately after negotiations between the two countries stalled. This diplomatic move, described as highly unusual, underscores the significant distrust between Washington and Tehran as efforts to resolve ongoing tensions have failed to yield results. Among those ordered to depart was Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who was scheduled to return to Tehran shortly after the order was issued.

The U.S. official stated that the Iranian delegation had overstayed its welcome following the conclusion of the General Assembly. The delegation departed for Doha, Qatar, early on Tuesday. Despite ongoing mediation efforts by Qatari officials, little progress has been made in securing a compromise between the two sides, with both parties remaining unwilling to make concessions.

President Donald Trump commented on the situation, indicating that a decision regarding military action or a potential deal with Iran would need to be made soon. He emphasized that the standoff would come to an end shortly, further heightening geopolitical tensions that could impact global oil prices. Traders are expected to react strongly to any developments from the mediators or the White House, as the situation continues to evolve.
