- Major pharmaceutical companies Eli Lilly and Biogen adopted Vault CRM, expanding the platform’s footprint to 12 of the top-20 global biopharma firms
Veeva Systems experienced its strongest trading session to date on Thursday, with shares climbing 20% to $294.54. The remarkable rally followed the company’s announcement of fiscal second quarter 2027 results that exceeded expectations across all critical performance indicators.
The life sciences cloud software provider reported quarterly revenue of $928 million, marking an 18% increase from the same period last year and surpassing the Street consensus of $905 million. Adjusted earnings per share reached $2.35, comfortably beating analyst projections of $2.22.
Company leadership upgraded its full-year FY2027 revenue outlook to a range of $3.68-$3.69 billion, exceeding the previous analyst consensus estimate of approximately $3.65 billion. The adjusted EPS forecast for the full year was also raised to $9.21 from the earlier target of $9.05.
Subscription revenue—the metric most closely monitored by investors—posted 16% year-over-year growth to hit $766.8 million. The company maintained non-GAAP operating margins exceeding 44%, demonstrating that expansion is being achieved while preserving strong profitability.
Chief Executive Officer Peter Gassner stated that “Vault CRM had its best quarter ever and Veeva Falcon accelerated rapidly,” further noting that artificial intelligence is “opening up the next big chapter for Veeva and life sciences.”
During the quarter, two additional top-20 biopharma organizations, Eli Lilly and Biogen, selected Vault CRM for their operations. This expansion increases the total number of top-20 industry leaders using the platform to 12.
Close to 20 Wall Street research firms upgraded their price targets on the stock in response to the quarterly performance.
Wall Street Response
Barclays analyst Saket Kalia increased his price target from $275 to $315 while maintaining an Overweight rating. He highlighted the acceleration in subscription revenue growth as a particularly positive indicator.
Piper Sandler launched coverage with an Overweight rating and a $295 price target. Guggenheim elevated its target from $276 to $310, maintaining a Buy rating, and described Veeva as “indispensable for its customers.”
Morgan Stanley analyst Craig Hettenbach boosted his price target from $215 to $275. He identified the company’s annual investor day scheduled for November 5 as the next significant catalyst, characterizing it as “a referendum on the company’s AI strategy.”
Even more cautious analysts showed increased optimism. Canaccord upgraded its target from $220 to $260 while keeping a Hold rating, describing the quarterly results as among the “cleanest” seen in recent memory.
Market Environment
Veeva’s impressive performance occurred alongside broader strength in enterprise software. Salesforce also surged more than 20% during the same session, following better-than-expected Q2 results and an expanded collaboration with Anthropic. ServiceNow and Datadog similarly posted significant gains.
Strong earnings from Nvidia earlier in the week seemed to revitalize investor enthusiasm for technology and software equities broadly. The Nasdaq Composite advanced 1.1% while the S&P 500 rose 0.5% on Thursday.
Veeva ranked as the second-strongest performer in the S&P 500 index that day, trailing only Salesforce.
The stock opened pre-market trading at $264, significantly above its regular session opening price of $239.87, before continuing its ascent throughout the day.
The company’s upcoming investor day on November 5 represents the next significant milestone, where executive leadership is anticipated to provide comprehensive details on its artificial intelligence roadmap.
