Shares of Nvidia (NVDA) began Tuesday’s trading session at $220.60 and climbed more than 3% throughout the day, as the semiconductor giant continues establishing unprecedented benchmarks for market dominance.
With a current valuation of $5.4 trillion, Nvidia currently represents approximately 8% of the S&P 500 index, approaching the largest concentration ever documented, based on analytics from Augur Infinity. This valuation exceeds the combined worth of five complete sectors within the index, encompassing energy, utilities, real estate, and materials.
“Nvidia is making history,” noted strategists from The Kobeissi Letter.
The chipmaker delivered its fiscal second quarter results on August 26. Adjusted earnings per share registered at $2.22, surpassing the $2.09 Wall Street estimate. Revenues reached $96.22 billion, eclipsing analyst projections of $92.27 billion.
Top-line performance increased 105.9% versus the comparable period one year earlier. During the prior year quarter, Nvidia recorded EPS of $1.05.
The Data Center segment, encompassing Hyperscalers, AI Clouds, Industrial, and Enterprise solutions, generated $89 billion in revenue. This figure exceeded expectations of $85.8 billion.
Edge Computing operations, spanning physical AI and gaming applications, contributed $7.2 billion compared to analyst estimates of $6.6 billion.
Future Projections Exceed Expectations
Chief Executive Jensen Huang indicated the organization anticipates approximately 70% revenue expansion throughout fiscal 2028. Wall Street had previously projected 45% growth. Huang noted that expansion could have surpassed 100% without constraints from memory chip availability.
Financial analysts moved swiftly to revise their forecasts. Benchmark established a $335 price objective with a Buy recommendation. Morgan Stanley assigned a $300 target alongside an Overweight rating. Goldman Sachs maintained its Neutral stance with a $300 objective, elevated from the previous $285. The mean analyst price target currently stands at $324.23, with an overall “Moderate Buy” recommendation.
Nvidia has also secured board authorization for an $80 billion stock repurchase program, while a quarterly dividend of $0.25 per share is scheduled for October 1 distribution, with September 10 as the record date.
Large Investor Activity and Executive Transactions
Institutional stakeholders maintain ownership of 65.27% of NVDA shares. Multiple investment firms expanded their holdings during the second quarter. Aaron Wealth Advisors increased its position by more than 114%, acquiring 353,630 additional shares. Decker Retirement Planning expanded its stake by 32.3%. Davis Capital Management elevated its holdings by 22.4%.
ARK Invest acquired approximately $53 million worth of NVDA shares following the post-earnings pullback, interpreted as an endorsement from Cathie Wood’s investment firm.
Conversely, company insiders divested roughly 1.4 million shares valued at $299.3 million during the previous 90-day period. Board member Mark A. Stevens offloaded 885,000 shares on June 18 at an average transaction price of $210.17, decreasing his ownership by 14.53%.
Nvidia additionally disclosed a $3.5 billion capital commitment in MediaTek, broadening their collaboration across data center infrastructure, edge computing platforms, and automotive AI technologies. Anthropic purportedly executed a $35 billion cloud services contract supported by Nvidia-powered infrastructure.
The equity maintains a 12-month trading range between $164.07 and $236.54, with a 50-day moving average positioned at $208.33 and a 200-day moving average at $201.08.
