World Liberty Financial’s USD1 Stablecoin Expands to Canton Network for Institutional Trading
Key Highlights
- World Liberty Financial integrates its USD1 stablecoin as a native asset on Canton Network for institutional settlement
- The stablecoin commands a $4.05 billion market capitalization, positioning it as the sixth-largest in the market
- Financial institutions can deploy USD1 for collateralizing derivatives, lending operations, asset tokenization, and international payments
- Canton Network handles more than $9 trillion in tokenized assets per month, with daily movement of $350 billion in blockchain-based US Treasurys
- World Liberty Trust Company secured preliminary OCC charter approval on August 14, though operational clearance remains pending
World Liberty Financial has integrated its USD1 stablecoin as a native offering on Canton Network, providing institutional market participants with a dollar-denominated settlement mechanism for tokenized real-world assets.
.@WorldLibertyFi‘s U.S. dollar stablecoin, $USD1, is now natively issued on Canton.
It gives institutions a fully reserved dollar leg that settles atomically alongside the asset, under the same privacy and compliance controls these assets require.

This integration establishes USD1 as a natively-issued token on Canton instead of relying on bridge technology from alternative blockchain platforms. The architecture enables simultaneous settlement of both cash and asset components within a single transaction.
Canton’s Native Settlement Architecture Explained
The Canton platform coordinates both transfer components to ensure mutual completion, preventing either side from finalizing independently. This mechanism minimizes counterparty risk in institutional transactions involving tokenized equities, fixed income instruments, or sovereign debt.
Canton implements granular privacy and access management protocols, enabling financial institutions to designate which counterparties receive visibility into transaction details while maintaining regulatory compliance standards.
According to network data, Canton facilitates the movement of over $9 trillion in tokenized assets monthly. The platform processes more than $350 billion worth of blockchain-based US Treasury securities each day.
A practical demonstration of this settlement framework occurred in July when Tradeweb reported that Franklin Templeton executed a tokenized US Treasury transfer to Virtu Financial against USDCx payment, with Canton orchestrating simultaneous settlement of both transaction legs.
Financial institutions now have the option to substitute USD1 for alternative stablecoins like USDCx when executing the payment component of trades.
USD1’s Development Trajectory and Market Expansion
USD1 entered the market in March 2025. The stablecoin maintains reserves comprising short-duration US Treasury securities, government-backed money market instruments, and cash deposits. BitGo Bank and Trust currently serves as the issuing institution and reserve custodian.
The token’s market capitalization has expanded from approximately $2 billion in December 2025, when World Liberty and Canton initially disclosed their integration plans, to its current valuation of $4.05 billion.
A substantial portion of that initial growth stemmed from a single $2 billion transaction. In May 2025, MGX, an investment entity backed by Abu Dhabi, utilized USD1 to complete its investment settlement with Binance.
World Liberty CEO Zach Witkoff attributed the expansion to genuine institutional appetite and rejected assertions that the Trump family’s association with the enterprise propelled adoption. World Liberty Financial represents a crypto initiative with Trump family backing that commenced operations in 2024.
The organization’s connections to President Donald Trump and participation from a foreign government-supported investor have attracted attention from Democratic congressional members.
On August 14, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency granted World Liberty Trust Company preliminary authorization to establish a national trust banking institution. The entity must satisfy capitalization standards and additional requirements before commencing operations.
Upon final approval, World Liberty Trust would assume USD1 issuance responsibilities and reserve administration from BitGo while delivering digital asset custody capabilities under federal regulatory supervision.
Canton is simultaneously pursuing public sector applications. Digital Asset, in partnership with former House Speaker Paul Ryan’s American Idea Foundation, intends to test a Canton-powered benefits disbursement platform across three US states beginning in early 2027, contingent on federal authorization.
