Robinhood's Blockchain Sees $440 Million in Memecoin Trading

Robinhood Markets Inc. has reported a significant surge in trading activity on its newly launched blockchain, Robinhood Chain, which went live on July 1, 2026. A Bloomberg report dated October 2, 2026, reveals that trading volumes for memecoins paired with Robinhood's stock tokens have reached $440 million, overshadowing the platform's original intent of facilitating tokenized real-world assets.

In the early days of Robinhood Chain, memecoins dominated the decentralized exchange (DEX) volume, despite the platform's branding focused on real-world assets. Many liquidity pools on the chain pair memecoins with tokenized stocks, allowing traders to swap these digital assets directly rather than against stablecoins. For instance, on September 2, 2026, trading volumes for memecoin and stock token pairs amounted to $217 million, while direct stock token trading was recorded at $127 million.

One notable instance involved a memecoin named BONER, which gained control over approximately 53% of the tokenized float for HIMS, causing its price to temporarily exceed that of the underlying stock. Other pairings, such as Artificial Inu with tokenized Nvidia and MEME with tokenized AMC, have also emerged, facilitated by various launchpads that enable rapid token creation and trading pool establishment.

While the $440 million in memecoin trading indicates that Robinhood Chain is attracting user engagement, it raises concerns about the stability and reliability of tokenized stocks. The disconnect between the trading prices of stock tokens and their underlying assets highlights potential risks for traders who may rely on these tokens as stable representations of real shares.
