Pump Fun Liquidates 47,994 SOL for $6 Million, Total Sales Exceed $848 Million
Pump.fun, a memecoin launchpad operating on the Solana blockchain, has sold 47,994 SOL for approximately $5.83 million. This transaction is part of the platform's ongoing treasury conversion strategy, which has seen total liquidations surpass $848 million since its launch in January 2024. The platform has established itself as a significant player in the decentralized finance (DeFi) space, generating substantial revenue through fees on token launches and trades.
The platform's revenue model includes charging around 1% in fees, which has contributed to its cumulative revenue exceeding $1 billion, particularly during the memecoin boom of 2025. Rather than holding onto its SOL assets, Pump.fun has consistently liquidated its holdings in batches, with individual sales reaching as high as 132,935 SOL for $13.75 million. This systematic approach has been likened to a treasury management strategy, with average sale prices fluctuating between $160 and $175 per SOL.
In addition to its liquidation strategy, Pump.fun launched its native PUMP token in July 2025, which features a buyback-and-burn mechanism. Approximately $457 million has been allocated for these buybacks, creating a dynamic where half of the platform's revenue is used to support the PUMP token's price while the other half is converted into stablecoins or fiat currency. As a result, Pump.fun has become one of the largest sellers of Solana's native token, influencing market dynamics, especially during periods of fluctuating trading activity.
