Decentralized Exchange Orca Merges with Loopscale to Form Formation

Orca, a decentralized exchange operating on the Solana blockchain, has merged with the lending platform Loopscale to create a new entity named Formation. The merger will be led by Loopscale co-founder Luke Truitt, who will serve as CEO. Formation aims to integrate Orca's trading infrastructure with Loopscale's lending and investment vaults, providing a comprehensive solution for emerging assets from issuance to trading.

The newly formed company plans to expand its services beyond cryptocurrency trading and lending into capital-intensive sectors such as artificial intelligence, energy, robotics, and defense. Truitt emphasized that the rapid development of the frontier economy is outpacing traditional market infrastructure, which often imposes high costs on smaller transactions. Formation intends to lower these costs and connect with regulated capital markets in the United States.

In the upcoming year, Formation is set to introduce new tools and investment strategies targeted at asset issuers. The company has already established partnerships with several organizations, including Figure, Shinhan Asset Management, Superstate, R3, and Securitize, to facilitate asset tokenization and distribution. Christopher Montagano from Orca will take on the role of Chief Strategy and Legal Officer at Formation, highlighting the need for more than just liquidity to effectively scale assets. The financial terms of the merger have not been disclosed, but both parties confirmed that existing agreements will continue to underpin the ORCA and xORCA token networks.
