GoPlus Raises Concerns Over THORChain's Decentralization and North Korea Fund Transfers

GoPlus Security has raised alarms regarding the decentralization of THORChain, a blockchain protocol, highlighting that fund outflows require validation through threshold signatures. This mechanism differs from the processes used by Bitcoin and Ethereum, leading to questions about the true decentralization of THORChain.

In a recent post on platform X, GoPlus reported that approximately 101.5 Bitcoin, valued at around 8.5 million USD, has been transferred from stolen funds associated with the cryptocurrency exchange Bitget. Additionally, about 27.63 million XRP, worth approximately 43 million USD, is currently being converted to Bitcoin, prompting calls for the interception of funds linked to North Korea.

The concerns raised by GoPlus come amid ongoing scrutiny of cryptocurrency protocols and their vulnerabilities to illicit activities. The situation underscores the need for enhanced security measures and regulatory oversight in the rapidly evolving digital asset landscape.
