Ondo and BlackRock Launch Tokenized Portfolios for Non-US Investors
Ondo Finance has partnered with BlackRock to introduce seven tokenized model portfolios aimed at non-US investors, set to launch on September 24, 2026. These portfolios will encompass a range of traditional assets, including stocks, bonds, and Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs), organized around three primary themes: high-income, diversified growth, and high-growth.
The innovative structure allows investors to allocate capital to these portfolios, which automatically purchase the underlying ETF shares. Instead of holding the ETFs directly, investors will receive a token representing their position. This token can be traded around the clock, transferred without waiting for settlement, or used as collateral for borrowing, offering a level of flexibility not typically available through conventional brokerage accounts.
The decision to limit initial availability to non-US investors is influenced by the complex regulatory landscape surrounding tokenized securities in the United States. BlackRock's model portfolio business had amassed $9.8 trillion in assets under management by June 2026, indicating a significant shift towards integrating tokenization in mainstream asset management.
Earlier in July 2026, Ondo successfully tokenized two individual securities, including BlackRock's iShares Core S&P 500 ETF and shares of Micron Technology. This initial effort allowed both companies to test their infrastructure before tackling the more complex challenge of multi-asset model portfolios, which require advanced systems for rebalancing and accurate on-chain representation. Additionally, Ondo has expanded its distribution network, recently integrating with the crypto exchange LBank to offer thematic portfolio baskets in sectors like artificial intelligence and technology.
