Hamas Military Branch Advises Donors to Avoid Binance for Fund Transfers
The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military branch of Hamas, has advised potential donors to refrain from using Binance for transferring funds. In a letter revealed by the U.S. Department of Justice, the group recommended alternative platforms such as Bybit, OKX, Kast, and Redotpay, emphasizing the use of Tether's USDT stablecoin and the TRC-20 network for transactions.
The letter cautioned donors against entering any official names associated with Hamas to prevent their wallets from being blocked, suggesting the use of applications like Trust Wallet and others for safer transfers. The Al-Qassam Brigades criticized Binance, stating it is only suitable for purchasing currency, requiring additional applications to complete the transfer process.
In response, Binance's Chief Compliance Officer, Noah Perlman, indicated that the organization's warning to avoid their platform reflects the effectiveness of their control measures. OKX also distanced itself from the wallet address mentioned in the communication, asserting that it has been flagged for illegal activities, while Kast highlighted its commitment to financial crime compliance. The U.S. Treasury's 2026 Terrorism Financing Risk Assessment noted that groups like Hamas continue to exploit digital assets for fundraising and transfers.
