Deutsche Bank to Launch Cryptocurrency Custody Service for Institutions

Deutsche Bank, Germany's largest lender, has announced plans to launch a cryptocurrency custody service aimed at institutional clients by the end of 2026. This service will provide regulated custody for various digital assets, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, catering to the growing demand among European institutional and corporate clients for secure management of cryptocurrencies.

The custody service will support a select range of cryptocurrencies at its inception, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and stablecoins such as USDC. This move comes as institutions increasingly adopt digital assets, particularly stablecoins, for digital payments. Deutsche Bank's established relationships with these clients in traditional finance may make its custody service an attractive option for them.

As of September 16, Bitcoin is trading at $75,650, reflecting a significant interest in the cryptocurrency market. Deutsche Bank's stock has seen a 5% increase over the past year, currently trading at $38.35 per share. The bank's entry into the crypto custody space underscores the growing integration of digital assets within mainstream financial services.
