OpenAI and Synopsys partner to develop chip design AI model GPT-Synopsys

PANews, October 1 - According to an official announcement, OpenAI and Synopsys, a chip design software (EDA) giant, announced a multi-year partnership to jointly develop GPT-Synopsys, a specialized AI model for semiconductor design. The model can call on Synopsys' EDA tools, with AI agents executing chip design around goals such as power, performance and area, interpreting results and iterating for optimization. It runs on OpenAI-hosted infrastructure, and customer design data will not be used for model training. The two parties will adopt a revenue-sharing model, with the specific amount undisclosed, and have already begun early collaboration with some leading semiconductor customers.
