Russia Prohibits Self-Custody Withdrawals from Regulated Cryptocurrency Accounts

The Russian government has implemented a ban on self-custody withdrawals from regulated cryptocurrency accounts. This regulation is part of a broader effort to control the cryptocurrency market within the country and ensure that transactions are conducted through authorized channels.

In addition to the withdrawal restrictions, a new regulation will take effect on July 1, 2027, which will prohibit direct cryptocurrency trades between individuals. Under this rule, residents will be required to use authorized intermediaries for any cryptocurrency transactions, further tightening the government's grip on the digital currency landscape in Russia.
