Shen Yu, co-founder and CEO of Cobo, reflected on the launch of the Zcash (ZEC) mainnet in 2016, recalling a significant incident that occurred that night. As the mainnet went live, a lightning strike hit the transformer at his GPU mining farm, leading to a disruption that has left ZEC absent from his personal wallet ever since.
During the launch, BitMEX set a price ceiling for ZEC at 10 Bitcoin (BTC), marking it as a historical high point for the cryptocurrency. This event is etched in the memory of many in the cryptocurrency community, particularly due to the unforeseen challenges faced by miners like Shen Yu on that pivotal night.
