Adnoc Distribution plans 400 new petrol stations in Egypt

Abu Dhabi-based Adnoc Distribution plans to invest in building hundreds of petrol stations in Egypt, according to a media report.

At least $1 billion would be invested, adding 400 petrol stations.

The petroleum products distributor, listed on the Abu Dhabi bourse, already owns nearly 250 petrol pumps in the third-largest Arab economy, following its 2023 acquisition of TotalEnergies Marketing Egypt.

Quoting an unnamed Egyptian government official, Saudi Asharq Business news reported on Monday that the new investment plan includes building 200 stations in each of two phases.

“Adnoc Distribution is exploring several project models, including establishing stations independently for the first time in Egypt, or entering into partnerships with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) to build new stations or develop existing sites.”

It may also implement some projects on a leasing basis, it said.

“The company also intends to invest around $50 million to expand its aircraft refuelling business at Sphinx and Hurghada International Airports, under an agreement with the EGPC,” the report added.

Adnoc Distribution did not respond to a request for comment on the report.

Last month, its board of directors announced a second-quarter dividend after revenue rose year on year as a result of higher fuel volumes and network expansion.

The company said in a statement on the Abu Dhabi bourse that the dividend of $175 million, or 5.14 fils per share, will be paid this month.
