Australia's September PMI Shows Decline in Manufacturing and Services Sectors

Australia's preliminary Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for September indicates a downturn in both the manufacturing and services sectors. The manufacturing PMI dropped to 49.3, down from 52.0 in August, signaling a contraction in this sector as it fell below the neutral mark of 50.

The services PMI also experienced a decline, easing to 51.4 from 53.2 the previous month. This suggests a slowdown in growth within the services sector, although it remains above the neutral threshold, indicating continued expansion despite the decrease.

These figures reflect ongoing challenges in the Australian economy, as businesses navigate fluctuating demand and other economic pressures. The PMI data is closely watched by analysts and policymakers for insights into the health of the economy.
