Apollo Limits Withdrawals from Private Credit Fund for Third Consecutive Quarter

Apollo Global Management has announced that it will again cap withdrawals from its Apollo Debt Solutions BDC, a private credit fund with approximately $26 billion in assets, at 5% of outstanding shares for the third consecutive quarter. This decision comes as redemption requests have decreased to about 15% of shares in the third quarter, down from nearly 17% in the previous quarter. The decline in requests has been noted among both US onshore and offshore investors, with many of the current requests being resubmissions from earlier periods that had gone unfulfilled.

The fund estimates that investors who sought liquidity during 2026 will have received around 75% of the capital they requested once third-quarter payments are processed. The trend of easing redemption pressure is consistent with a broader shift in the private credit sector, where major non-traded private credit funds, including those managed by BlackRock, have also reported a decline in withdrawal requests recently. This suggests that investor sentiment may be stabilizing after a period of heightened concern over lending standards and the impact of artificial intelligence on borrowers.

Despite the easing of redemption pressure, the situation remains complex. The fund's cap on withdrawals and the ongoing resubmission of requests indicate that while the queue for exits is shortening, the overall demand for liquidity remains significant. Future tender cycles will be crucial in determining whether this trend continues, as a further drop in resubmitted requests could signal a resolution of investor concerns, while any increase in new withdrawal demands may suggest ongoing issues within the private credit market.
