AWS Launches AI Agent to Audit Customer Cloud Environments
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the public preview of an artificial intelligence-powered service that analyzes the user’s AWS cloud environment and recommends ways to improve its cost, security, performance and resilience, AWS said in a Thursday (Oct. 1) blog post.
Dubbed “AWS Well-Architected Agent,” the service delivers recommendations that are targeted, contextualand ready to implement, as they are based on the agent’s analysis of the customer’s infrastructure and business goals, according to the post.
“The agent evaluates your environment as an experienced cloud architect would,” AWS said in the post. “It automatically correlates utilization metrics, resource configurations and application topology, and analyzes against Well-Architected best practices across 65+ AWS services.”
AWS Well-Architected Agent is available in three AWS commercial regions, including US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio) and US West (Oregon), per the post.
PYMNTS reported in April that financial services are facing a technological reckoning, with cloud contracts at the center of it, because artificial intelligence may have made agreements underpinning financial infrastructure outdated.
Running AI inference and scaling privacy-critical data pipelines can require far more compute, and far tighter integration, than traditional workloads, the report said.
“For banks, the challenge is to align their infrastructure with their AI ambitions,” the report said. “This may require not only technical innovation but also a rethinking of the agreements that underpin their systems.”
PYMNTS reported in July that the era of “tokenmaxxing,” or pushing employees toward the biggest AI models and the heaviest usage, was ending after two years of unchecked growth. As AI spending increased, new tools were being launched to address the issue, the report said.
AWS announced in June that it was spending billions on public cloud and AI efforts. These initiatives include a $1 billion cloud incentive program for the U.S. intelligence community, a Secret Cloud for Industry designed to let defense contractors run contractor-owned classified workloads on the same AWS infrastructure trusted by the Pentagon and a $1 billion investment in a new Forward Deployed Engineering organization that will put thousands of engineers on-site with customers to co-develop AI solutions and accelerate the development of AI applications.
